Poured & Decorative Concrete

Concrete done right, and honest about its limits

Concrete still has its place. For the right project and budget, a well-poured slab or a decorative stamped concrete surface is a solid choice, and Genesis has poured and finished concrete across Southern California for three decades. What sets us apart is that we also install pavers, so we have no reason to talk you into concrete when pavers would serve you better. You get the work done correctly, with proper base preparation and control joints, and the straight advice to go with it.

Decorative Options

Stamped concrete that mimics stone, brick, and slate

Stamped concrete lets you get a decorative look at a lower installed cost than natural stone. We can texture and color the surface to resemble stone, brick, slate, or wood plank, add integral color, and finish it with decorative borders. Genesis prepares the base properly and cuts control joints where they belong, so your stamped concrete looks its best and holds up as long as poured concrete reasonably can. Where you want the pattern of stone without the cracking that concrete eventually shows, we will point you toward pavers instead.

The Honest Answer

Concrete or pavers? Here is when each one wins

Most contractors sell whatever they pour. We install both, so here is the straight guidance we would give a neighbor.

When concrete is the right call

  • The budget is tight and upfront cost matters most
  • You want a specific stamped pattern at a lower installed price
  • A utility slab, shed pad, or footing where looks are secondary
  • A surface you do not expect to modify or access later

When pavers are worth it

  • You want it to last without cracking as the ground moves
  • You may need to lift and reset to reach a buried line
  • Resale value and curb appeal are priorities
  • You are replacing a cracked slab and do not want to repeat the cycle

Questions

Concrete and stamped concrete FAQ

Straight answers about concrete, stamped concrete, cost, and how Genesis works, from the owner-led team that actually does the job.

How much does stamped concrete cost?
Every job is quoted flat-rate after an in-person visit, because the price depends on square footage, base preparation, the pattern and color you choose, and any demolition. Stamped concrete usually costs a little less than pavers to install, though pavers last longer and repair more cleanly. Your Genesis design consultant provides a free, itemized quote at your consultation, with no obligation.
Should I choose concrete or pavers?
It depends on the project and the budget, and we will tell you honestly. Poured or stamped concrete can be the right call for a tight budget or a specific look. Interlocking pavers cost about the same installed, do not crack as the ground moves, can be lifted and reset for repairs, and return more at resale. Many homeowners who start out asking for concrete choose a concrete-to-paver approach once they see the trade-offs.
Does stamped concrete crack?
All poured concrete can crack over time as the ground moves and the sun works on it, and stamped concrete is no exception, which is why we cut control joints and prepare the base properly. Where cracking is a real concern, we will point you toward interlocking pavers, which flex instead of cracking.
What patterns and colors can stamped concrete have?
Stamped concrete can be textured and colored to resemble stone, brick, slate, or wood plank, with integral color and decorative borders. We walk you through the pattern and color options that suit your home at your consultation.
Do you install both concrete and pavers?
Yes. Genesis holds eight California contractor's licenses covering concrete, pavers, and masonry, so one crew can pour concrete, lay stamped concrete, or install pavers, and we give you straight advice about which fits your project rather than pushing one product.
How long does a concrete project take?
Most residential concrete and stamped concrete projects are completed within a few days to about a week, plus curing time before use, depending on size, demolition, and the finish. Genesis works with one crew on a set schedule, so the timeline stays predictable.
